If we narrow it down further, we can say that the Catalonia region, or the Barcelona Countryside, has everything you can imagine: sea, mountains, culture, art, technology, everything is within about 200 km, any discovery and adventure is less than an hour away by train. Spain and Italy are the countries where the institution of “family” is most recognized. So believe me, we know about tribes (which are chosen families) and also about living in a community. Although inner wellness is undoubtedly one of the consequences of living in Kalart, we are not a center to help you overcome a personal crisis, a separation, etc. We are not a wellness retreat. It’s true that here we have a specialized support network (massage therapists, therapists, yogis, etc.), but they are always external professionals who can make life much more enjoyable for Kalart colivers.
We have a community garden. We are surrounded by fields. We have a wonderful forest 300 meters away. We are part of a cooperative garden in the village that supplies us with organic products. We live in an eco-friendly way, quite aligned with sustainable living or green living communities. Still, we feel closer to nature-inspired coliving than a farmstay. However, our home is a renovated old farmhouse. Where there were cows, now we meditate, do yoga, dance contact improvisation, ecstatic dance, theater… we became vegetarians, definitely!
We take community life very seriously. We can say that we are a family with an extended tribe, as more than 35% of our colivers end up living in the valley less than 5 km from us. Still, we don’t have a special philosophy or ideology; the most important thing is to offer a space for remote work, develop collaborative living, enjoy coworking in nature, etc.
